Thunder Snow

So, as some of you might know I love writing travel blogs. For my trip to the east coast I decided to leave my laptop at home in favor of my droid. So I am writing this using swype, so pardon any errors. We flew into Baltimore on Saturday morning where it had just stopped snowing. You could see snow on the edges if the tarmac, but nothing much. They had these huge snowplows with 10ft high blades parked on the sides of the landing strip. We drove from BWI to Burke, VA where my friend lives. It was sunny and the roads were all clear, but it was 26° out.

We got ourselves settled and went out later to see The Fighter. It was an excellent movie and reinforced for me what a good actor Christian Bale is. The next day we headed into DC and went to The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. This is always one of my favorite museums as I am a science geek. They had an exhibit on forensic anthropology from colonial Virginia.
 They were excavating skeletons from an old fort and explaining how they figured out how the people died and lived. It was awesome!

The other bit of excitement was a crocheted coral reef (pictures to the left). It was made based upon mathematical formulas in cooperation with crochet artists all over the world.






From VA we drove up to see my husband's family in Connecticut. It was about a 6 hour drive, but it wasn't too bad. There were warnings of an approaching snowstorm, but so far everything was ok. Getting to meet Joe's auntand uncles was fun. Joe's aunt is a fantastic cook and made some great pasta the first night we were here. The snow warnings were increasing and we decided we needed to move our flight as it didn't seem we would be able to make it back to a Baltimore on Wednesday. We managed to return the rental car and get our flight moved without any problems. It turned out to be a good thing. Last night is started snowing around 11pm and it is still going. We are supposed to get 20in with chances of thunder snow. Doesn't that sound like something out of a bad scifi movie? Thunder Snow!! Anyway, wish me luck on getting out of here eventually.

Fable 3 and knitting

So, I got Fable 3 on Tuesday. This means I haven't been knitting that much in the last few days, especially since work has been a little busy. So far, I am really enjoying the game, though I have a sneaking suspicion that I am almost through the main storyline. This thought does not please me. Don't get wrong, I know with Fable you can keep playing after finishing the storyline, but I want more developed story. Things I like about the new game are the relationship quests with the villagers, the improved graphics, ability to upgrade weapons in interesting ways and the chicken races. Things I don't like are the ability to upgrade jobs without earning it, how glitchy the sparkling trail is, the narrowness of the world, the new emotions for interactions and the gnomes.

I have been able to knit of my brioche scarf a bit. I think I am about a quarter of the way through. I think it is looking pretty good other than the mistakes that I can see clear as day. I just hope whoever I give it to can't see them. I plan to work on it frantically this weekend. I have lots of Bones and Doctor Who on the DVR. I finished season 5 of Bones tonight, so onward to season 6. I love this show! I am for the record very happy Angela and Hodgins are back together!
